Discupa el offtopic Fernando

Lycos Tripod está enviado correos notificando que el día 15 de febrero cierran y borran todo si antes no llegan a algún acuerdo comercial con
otra firma. Van a suspender algunas actividades comerciales de Lycos
Europe GmbH,
Entre estas actividades se encuentra el servicio de hosting gratuito Tripod. Por esta razón, notifican la cancelación de las cuentas Tripod.

Supongo que hay muchas maneras de abandonar a alguien , como dice Jyri en el hilo de Jaiku:

Jeb, we’re not pulling the service out from under the community. We’ll open source the code after Jaiku.com has been moved to App Engine. If nobody needs the service, probably there won’t be development. But if people want to use it and improve it, they have the opportunity to do both.

Es un poco como dejar a alguien, pero apuntarle a una web de contactos con una foto buena y una etiqueta de “disponible”.

Hola Begoña
Después de hablar contigo en twitter he vuelto a leer los enlaces y yo sigo interpretando que cierran el servicio como tal, lo dejan funcionando y liberan su código pero no le van a dar soporte, no lo van a mejorar, no lo van a integrar en sus aplicaciones ni lo van a rentabilizar.
Para mi es un proyecto abandonado y regalado a la comunidad.

Por lo que yo entiendo, no lo cierran, sino que liberan el código, y algunos voluntarios de Google con su 20% seguirán en ello:

With the open source Jaiku Engine project, organizations, groups and individuals will be able to roll-their-own microblogging services and deploy them on Google App Engine. The new Jaiku Engine will include support for OAuth, and we’re excited about developers using this proven code as a starting point in creating a freely available and federated, open source microblogging platform.“
